بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
A thoughtful way into the Qur’an
QuranML brings Qur’anic text and carefully identified sources into one calm, considered reading space—made for reflection, learning, and return.
Read Al-FatihahA beginning, offered with adab and attention.
Reading the Qur’an is a lifelong journey. QuranML is being shaped as a careful companion for that journey: a place where the words remain connected to their sources and where questions can be explored with humility.
We begin simply—with the opening surah, its Arabic text, and an English translation presented alongside it.
Read each ayah in Arabic alongside an English translation of its meanings. The words are reproduced from the editions named below.
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
All praise be to Allah[1], the Lord[2] of the worlds[3],
[1] Allah is God’s most unique name. [2] The Arabic term "rabb" (translated as "Lord") includes all of the following meanings: "owner, master, ruler, controller, sustainer, provider, guardian and caretaker." [3] "the worlds" means mankind, jinn, and all that exists.
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful[1],
[1] Ar-Rahmān and Ar-Raheem are two names of Allah: Rahmān is used only to describe Allah, while raheem might be used to describe a human as well. Rahmān carries a wider meaning - merciful to all creation. Justice is a part of this mercy. Raheem includes the concept of specialty - especially merciful to the believers. Forgiveness is a part of this mercy. In addition, Rahmān is adjectival, referring to an attribute of Allah and is part of His essence. Raheem is verbal, indicating what He does: i.e., bestowing and implementing mercy.
مَـٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
Master[1] of the Day of Judgment.
[1] Other meanings for "Mālik": Sovereign, Owner, etc.
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
You alone we worship, and You alone we ask for help.
ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Guide us to the straight path,
صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
the path of those whom You have blessed[1]; not of those who incurred Your Wrath[2], or of those who went astray[3].
[1] The way of the Prophets and those who follow them. [2] Those who know the Truth and do not follow it, like the Jews. [3] Those who are ignorant of the Truth and follow misguidance, like the Christians.
A translation conveys human understanding of the meanings; it is not a replacement for the Arabic Qur’an.

QuranML is built for Muslims who want to spend more time with the Qur’an: reading its ayat, reflecting on its meanings, and studying its language. We aim to support tadabbur—attentive reflection—and the pursuit of ‘ilm through useful, accessible digital tools.
This public beginning offers a source-attributed reading of Al-Fatihah and a transparent letter-value study aid. Wider reading, search, tafsir, and hadith features are still in development. Each will need to preserve its own sources and scholarly context.
We approach the Qur’an, the Sunnah, and the rich traditions of tafsir with adab and amanah: respect for sacred knowledge and care for what is entrusted to us. Texts, translations, and scholarly explanations keep their own identities and attributions, so that learning stays connected to its sources.
Qur’anic text, translations, tafsir, and hadith are distinct kinds of material. Each reading should name its edition, version, and source.
Attentive reading makes room for context, reflection, questions, and learning from trusted scholarship.
Follow a text to its source, understand which translation you are reading, and see the methods behind each study tool.
These are the source editions used in this Al-Fatihah reading. Text is preserved as received, with its edition and version identified.
